If you are a recreational fisherman in the Gulf of Mexico, the chances are good you heard about the recent announcement of the 3-day red snapper season in federal waters (anything outside of 9 miles from the state’s shoreline).

As you can imagine, recreational anglers are pretty upset with the incredibly short 3-day red snapper season. When you consider that the chances of perfect (or even great) conditions during a 72-hour period are slim, this 3-day red snapper season is kind of a slap in the face to recreational anglers.

Unfortunately, there has been a lot of blaming and bad information out there regarding the federal gulf red snapper season, so we went over to Hubbard’s Marina to interview Dylan Hubbard to get his take since he has been heavily involved on both sides of the fence (recreational fishing and for-hire fishing).

Make sure to listen in to the full interview as Dylan reveals who’s really to blame for these short red snapper seasons along with what we can do about it to make change.

You might be shocked to find out that the infamous “Red Snapper Sea Lords” aren’t really to blame…
