Helpful tips on how to catch bass from shore on public lakes and ponds!
In this video I take a closer look at some local ponds and waterways close to my house and see if there is any bass around. I normally don’t fish from the bank but there is times when it can be very rewarding and you can catch some good fish from the shoreline. I was invited by Charlie who just started bass fishing less then a year ago. In fact he has taking a lot of time in recent months to explore local areas to bass fish. We started off by taking a walk along the whole shoreline and decided to try and get far away from the easy shore fishing spots and see if we could find some big fish. We ended up catching a few bass from shore and found that a lot of the fish were spawning and making beds close to shore. There was a few good ones that we got to bite but could not get in. We also caught a few bass from the bank. I used a drop shot with a roboworm and Charlie was throwing a senko texas rigged weightless. Besides the angry goose we had a pretty good time.

I plan on doing a few more videos from the bank because I understand that not everyone has access to a boat and there can be some good opportunities for fishing if you know where to look! I think the best thing to do is put your time in scouting for spots to fish and good shoreline areas that hold fish. There is probably numerous bodies of water close to where you live that has bass in it and perhaps it doesn’t get any pressure or very little fishing pressure. The best tip I can give is travel light and pack according to the conditions and what you expect to use. I or 2 rods max and a handful of baits is all you need. Fishing from the shore and the bank can provide some great fishing if you know where to look!

I want to know what are some things you like about fishing from the shore?

I also encourage everyone who is interested in fishing from shore especially around the Philadelphia area to check out the YOUTUBE Channel ExtremePhillyFishing. This guy has a lot of good videos about fishing from shore and puts out some great content!

Who is SmallmouthCrush?

Travis Manson was born and raised where the giant Smallmouth Bass of the north live…WISCONSIN. He started fishing from the bank as at a young age and spent most of his childhood with a rod in his hand. Travis is primarily a self-taught angler that is always learning and experiencing this amazing sport of fishing. He started out fishing for walleyes and fishing in local walleye tournaments, but then in his mid 20’s, he caught the BASS BUG and has been hooked every since. He competed at the highest level in bass fishing on the Bassmaster Elite series for a number of years, until he ran out of $$ money $$. This led to a move across the country to the Northeast where he got things right again and is back on track, but now on his own terms. Perhaps he will make another run at the Elite Series if the opportunity allows. In the meantime, he is a fishing guide offering trips on the Chesapeake Bay for largemouth bass(year round), guided trips for smallmouth back in Wisconsin (during select times) and trophy smallmouth bass guided trips in Upstate New York (May-November) His Youtube Channel is named after his passion for the smallmouth bass and will be used as a platform for “how-to” videos, on the water instruction, crazy on and off the water topics and vlogs on the day in the life of a fishing addict! Hope you enjoy!
