Bass Tournament Fishing Video – Bass Tournament on the Chesapeake Bay, Maryland
In this video Eric and I decide last minute to get into a bass tournament on the Chesapeake Bay. We haven’t been out in a few days and really didn’t know what we were going to do. We decided to try to look for new water to fish and see if we could find something a bit different. We spend most of the early morning looking for grass and seeing if we could find some cleaner water. Places where the grass had grown in years past had no grass at all and so we wasted a bunch of tournament time looking for good grass. We ended up finding a few patches of grass…milfoil and eel grass mixed in with some rock and wood. Started to fish the area and was almost ready to leave when Eric hooked up with a solid bass. We then stuck it out a bit more and ended up catching a 6 pound bass! We worked that area with jigs, carolina rigs and shakey heads. After a bit longer we decided it was time to move on. We were off to a good start with 3 solid fish in the boat. After a few hours of no bites we decided to hit a few marinas and finesse fish them. Ended up catching one more good bass but the tournament weigh in was fast approaching. At the end of the day Eric hooks up with a solid 5 pounder and just like that, this fish would have put us well into position to win this tournament. Unfortunately Eric’s line broke during the fight and we lost the fish. Only ended up coming in with 4 fish and we ended up missing the cut to get paid by 1 spot! Really wish we could have found that 5th fish! It was a very tough grind out on the Chesapeake Bay today and the bass were a bit tough. Guys caught them well though and the winning weight was just over 22 pounds. We ended up with just over 16 pounds for 4 fish.

Who is SmallmouthCrush?
Travis Manson was born and raised where the giant Smallmouth Bass of the north live…WISCONSIN. He started fishing from the bank at a young age and spent most of his childhood with a rod in his hand. Travis is primarily a self-taught angler that is always learning and experiencing this amazing sport of fishing. He started out fishing for walleyes and fishing in local walleye tournaments, but then in his mid 20’s, he caught the BASS BUG and has been hooked every since. He competed at the highest level in bass fishing on the Bassmaster Elite Series for a number of years, until he ran out of $$ money $$. This led to a move across the country to the Northeast where he got things right again and is back on track, but now on his own terms. Perhaps he will make another run at the Elite Series if the opportunity allows.
