The spinning reel vs. baitcaster debate has raged on for years and years. Some presentations have obvious answers: dropshots require spinning equipment, deep crankbaits require baitcasting gear.
Other presentations aren’t nearly as cut-and-dry, coming down to the personal preference of the fisherman. One of the most hotly debated areas in this argument is jerkbait fishing. You will hear many great arguments from either side of the fence. As a general rule, you’ll see many northern anglers using spinning setups, while anglers in the south will almost exclusively use baitcasting gear for their jerking.
