It’s fishing knot time again! Of all the knots for fishing, the braid to braid knot is probably the least used…

But we still must make time to ensure all connections are maximized so that we don’t lose the biggest fist of the day due to a break-off.

Most of all, a braid to braid connection is used to splice two sections of braid to save money and time in re-spooling…

Specifically, it allows anglers to load their full spool with braid to maximize the amount of line in the spool for when a really big fish is on, while still be able to re-spool faster and more affordably given that the line towards the bottom of the spool that is mostly untouched can stay in the spool as backing while only changing out the top ~100 yards of line that gets weakened the most due to usage.

After testing out many knots for the braid to braid connection, I found that the modified double uni knot outperformed them all.

This knot is easy to tie, has a small profile, and it has scored that highest in terms of average breaking strength of all that I have tested.
