Do you use weighted hooks, like the Mustad Grip Pin or TT Lures’ ChinlockZ?

These hooks don’t have a centering pin, like the Owner TwistLock hooks do, but there’s a little lip at the front of the lure that keeps them in place.

To rig soft plastics on them, you need to slide the hook over the weight that’s on the shank.

This isn’t a problem for tough lures like Z-Man lures made out of their ElaZtech material, but for most other lures, it can rip or tear them and leave a gaping hole.

I used to avoid using these hooks with lures that weren’t Z-Man lures, until I recently found this little hack.

You essentially rig the lure backward and it allows you to rig it properly without tearing it.
