This video shows how to rig a DOA jerk bait for saltwater fishing to catch redfish, trout and snook on the flats.

When rigged properly, this is an amazingly effective bait. However, when rigged wrong, it will helicopter (aka… spin) underwater and will not look natural to your target species.

To help you understand how it should look when rigged properly, we made this video so you can see how it should look both above the water as well as underneath the water when rigged and worked properly.

For working the bait, I find the best results casting with the wind (for max distance and feel on the retrieve) and doing short/quick twitches with my rod tip pointing up… the twitches should only move your rod from a 10:00 to 11:00 position.

If casting into or across the wind, I’ll often point my rod tip down so the wind doesn’t take control of the line.
