Here at Salt Strong, we are always on the lookout for the best inshore fishing rods (in particular, inshore spinning rods).

One that we’ve really put to the test is the Calico Jack spinning rod made by Hurricane (same company that makes the Redbone fishing rods).

It’s certainly priced right (you can find these rods in the $50-$60 range), and it’s proven to be incredibly tough and versatile (which is what I am looking for when I am fishing from my kayak or paddleboard since I can only carry a rod or two that I need for many purposes.

So far, this Hurricane Calico Jack inshore spinning rod has helped me land monster bull redfish, tarpon, and pretty much every type of inshore fish found in Florida.

And not only is it built well, it also does a great job of casting everything from light soft plastics all the way to heavy cut bait (which is why it’s so versatile).

I don’t think this is the only inshore spinning rod you ever want to own, but for kayak and paddle board anglers who fish a lot and go through a lot of rods, this is one of the best deals I seen so far.

What are your favorite inshore fishing rods?
