Gut hooking fish is when you hook them deep in the throat or gut.

This is essentially a death sentence for them, even if they swim off looking healthy.

But circle hooks are amazing because they’ve allowed anglers to reduce the number of times they gut hook fish.

Unlike j hooks, they’re much better at hooking fish in the corner of the mouth when they swim off with your bait.

But what if you’re still gut hooking fish with circle hooks?

There are probably two reasons for this, and in this video, I’ll share with you what those two reasons are, as well as how to stop them.

This is one step towards us being better stewards of our fisheries, and will help the next generation have the same (or better) fishing opportunities as we did.
