Our goal for this fishing trip was to catch as many bull sharks as possible. We were collecting bacteria samples for our shark attack research study. As two anglers were fighting bull sharks, a scalloped hammerhead cruised by the boat. Josh had a live bonito on the handline and the hammerhead ate the bait. He took an explosive run, almost pulling the harpoon spool in the ocean. We got the shark to the boat within 10 minutes. We quickly swabbed, removed the hook and released the shark safely back into the ocean.
