ever since buying this picasso 2oz. chatterbait i’ve been waiting to throw it just to see how well it worked and also to see if i actually had a rod that would throw it without any issues..
the bait is picasso aaron martens shock blade large blades and they come in 1 1/2oz and 2 oz..
as far as i know these are the largest and heaviest chatterbait or bladed jig on the planet and in the world…
although it’s way to cold for chatterbaits in general to work i just needed to throw this bait first..
well the good is that not only do i have one rod capable of throwing it but 2 rods that throw this bait with no problems..
and that this bait starts right up pretty much just as fast as a z man chatter bait…
the bad is that this thing is heavy and has a lot of resistance on retrieve and feels almost like a deep diving crank..
which is ok since i don’t plan on throwing it all day long but using it for very deep grass basically as an in between bait when the lipless or rattletrap is having a tough time getting through the grass but the regular size chatterbait isn’t getting deep enough to touch the grass..
now as far as rod and reel combos go.. you won’t see me throwing this on bfs gear…lol
i have the curado dc on the kuying 6’10” heavy rod for this exact type of big bait..
but i also have the scorpion mgl on the favorite fishing LFG big sexy rod which started out as a 7’2″ mh rod and i shortened the butt and added weight to balance it out.. it’s now just under 7′ and still a medium heavy but is better balanced than it originally started out…
which should make for less fatigue when fishing it for long periods of time..
although it’s only rated for up to 1 oz. it throws 2 oz. baits without an issue..
stay tuned throughout this season to see if i can actually catch a fish on this huge giant “worlds largest chatterbait” because if i do it will probably be a monster bass…
also stay tuned for more in depth bait comparison and shootout videos..
