Want to know a cool trick on how to fish from a kayak standing up without ever having to bend down, drop your paddle, or risk spooking the fish?

Then check out this cook kayak fishing tip from Tony Acevedo at Salt Strong.

The mistake that so many kayak anglers make while standing up is the don’t have anywhere to put their paddle. And if they do, it usually requires them to bend over (risking falling out of the kayak), trying to lay it down quietly (without spooking the fish), and hoping it doesn’t fall out of the kayak once you hook a fish.

But if you can make a simple belt to hold your paddle while having some sort of bungee cord or stopper on the front of your kayak, you will find it becomes super easy to transition from stand up paddling to casting.

Watch how quickly Tony goes from paddling while standing up in the kayak to casting.
