Have you ever used sand fleas to catch black drum? Most anglers think of pier anglers or surf anglers when they hear sand fleas for bait, but they can work amazing for inshore fish such as black drum.

I have recently been taking my kayak out on the east coast of Florida and killing it with nothing but sand fleas. I’ve even caught some nice redfish using sand fleas as well.

Couple of reasons I like sand fleas as bait:

You don’t need a live well as you can store them in a plastic bag (they don’t have to be alive to work)

I hook the sand flea on a 1/8 ounce jig head and toss it out in front of the school of black drum.

Almost every time I find the black drum schools I can hook up multiple times using this simple method.
