What’s the best way to attach your mainline to your spool?
By tying an arbor knot!
This is a simple knot that will cinch your line tight to the spool and allow you to get started putting line on it right away.
It’s not the strongest knot, but it doesn’t need to be because if a fish has you down to the arbor, you’ve already lost the battle.
Instead, this knot just allows your line to grip the arbor (the center of the spool) tight so that it won’t start free-spinning around it.
