The 3 turn Surgeon Knot is one of the strongest connections for two lines of different diameters.

Plus, it’s one of the fastest line-to-line knots to tie.

So the Surgeon knot is a fantastic choice for saltwater anglers looking to connect their main line to their heavier leader.

Best of all, this know can even be used to connect braided lines to mono lines… the only adjustment needed is to use 6 turns when braided line in included.

But for mono to mono connections, I now trust this 3 turn Surgeon knot for my needs.

Note: The only downfall to the Surgeon knot is that it has to be tied before the lure or hook is tied to the other end… otherwise, it will be difficult to thread the full leader through the knot loop.
