As we were approaching a school of permit, this huge hammerhead shark swam under the boat. I quickly grabbed my Okuma Makaira 80w and baited it with a butterflied bonito. We watched the hammerhead shark circle the bait a few times before he grabbed it. The shark dragged the boat over a mile before we landed him! The hammerhead measured 11’6″ and we estimated the weight at over 400lbs. The shark was released.
